Each automatically created QuikStory deletes itself after seven days if you haven't saved it too, so it won't take up all your phone's storage space. So you can go check in on the app, see what stories have been created for you and then choose to edit them, save them or delete them. It's worth reiterating, unlike Quik, all of this happens in the background, automatically. It can make you a complete video without you having to lift a finger. But for the average consumer who sweats in terror at the thought of cutting clips together using Premiere Pro or Final Cut, QuikStories is fantastic. So, shoot only what you want in the edit, and your first QuikStory will likely come out looking fantastic.įor professional video editors who like to have fine tuned control, and prefer to use a more traditional desktop program, QuikStories might not be ideal. That way, when it automatically chooses all of your clips, it doesn't have as much video to cut. One trick for making the automated edit better is by only shooting very short bursts of video. Regardless off whether you leave the first edit alone and use that, or decide to edit, the process is still simpler and less time consuming than virtually every other video editor out there. Using something like Google or Microsoft's systems that can recognise objects, and understanding what's happening in the video footage and then being able to perform an action based on that. We can't help but feel with something like this, implementing machine learning tools into the software would help kick it up a notch. Once or twice it did managed to show the glorious leap through mid-air and crashing into the pool, and even turned it into a slow motion scene. For a few of those instances, the QuikStories cut would cut right as the dog was about to jump and then cut straight to the dog being in the water, missing the all important jump through mid-air and subsequent splashing in in to the water. For instance, we captured multiple dogs running and jumping in to a pool. If there's any criticism, it's that the app doesn't always choose the best places to cut or choose the best footage. If you have background art that is intended to appear on every page of the book, place it here making sure it is lined up properly, if it’s meant to bleed, be sure it goes to the bleed line. They have been known to cause issues with web browsers and can be difficult to root out. While not always necessary, there have been cases where PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) dug their way into a person’s PC, either by accident or as malware. That may well cause additional headaches, including limited website functionality. It’s important not to lag behind others, especially for more extended periods. Much like the apps on our phones or multiplayer games we play, web browsers have regular updates. If it suddenly works after a particular add-on has been disabled, voila, master fixer! Update the Browser It will display all currently installed add-ons, allowing you to proceed with testing them. Go into the options menu on Chrome and find the Extensions tab on the lower-left corner. An excellent way to determine which one is to disable them one at a time, and then test the browser. Outdated extensions, such as the one that was required to run Flash videos, can still cause trouble. If it works fine, it’s possible one of your add-ons is to blame here. If you’ve installed some extensions recently and think they’re affecting Twitch, go into Incognito mode (Ctrl+Shift+N) and try to access Twitch there. Now, moving on to slightly advanced causes, add-ons on Chrome might be the culprit here.
Wear is amazing-I typically can’t wear many luminous finish foundations but this one wasn’t an oily mess on me. If I felt a way about it, I could just add concealer to those spots. It evened out my skin and covered a majority of my dark spots (which btw I’m having the WORST hyperpigmenatation I’ve had in over 10 years stemming from some awful repeat hormonal acne that kept popping up in the same spots-I’m treating it and will update you on what I use in a few months once it’s gone) but it didn’t completely cover everything which was cool for me. This will give you more coverage than a tinted moisturizer or light foundation but it’s definitely not FULL coverage. I love that type of foundation finish paired with a matte lip for contrast :) I do love that controlled luminous skin seems to be a trend with foundations now (I also have the Stila Aqua Glow Foundation and Concealer to test and review as well) as it’s really pretty to let your skin have some shine and not be so matte. It’s a foundation texture and finish I don’t normally reach for, but I would definitely incorporate this into my looks more often (but also keep in mind I work from home so I have basically two makeup looks: no makeup at all and ALL the makeup…lol). I just used a light dusting wear I get the oiliest (typically my T-zone) and then when there was oil breakthrough all over, I let it rock. I actually think you should go easy on using powder with this. I haven’t had a chance to try this in warmer, summer-like temperatures and I do suspect this wouldn’t be my first choice for oily skin in warmer weather, but this is beautiful for me now while it’s colder. But I’m happy to report that this was more of a controlled luminous and wore beautifully on me. Not that I don’t like being luminous, it’s just that once you put a “luminous” foundation on oily skin like mine, it’s like a recipe for disaster. See how the Deep Golden shade worked on three different skin tones hereĪnother thing I was kind of side-eyeing about this foundation at first was the “Aqua Luminous” part. In fact it’s funny, my homey Christene and I both wear Deep Bronze and we’re SOOOO different in skin tone-I’m so many shades darker than she is. But after applying it it started to work beautifully on. I was so shocked to see how Deep Bronze (the deepest shade) actually worked amazingly on me because it looked super light in the bottle and also once I dispensed the product out. After a few minutes of side-eyeing we all tried it on and instantly became amazed at how it worked on everyone’s skin tones. We all kinda gave the foundation the side eye once we saw the limited amount of shades but we all knew the reps and the makeup artists at BECCA so we we’re trusting…lol. In the room with me were other women of color in varying skin tones. I actually got to try BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation a few months before it launched at a focus group with the brand before receiving these for review consideration. Ok, so maybe it’s not magic but has more to do with the contents of this amazing formula that makes it work for virtually all skin tones. It’ll warm up to your complexion and magically match. So before you judge BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation for having only eight shades, it’s important to understand that this foundation is basically magic and one shade works for a wide range of skin tones. Others purchase building designs from other residents. Some use programs like AutoCAD to design their structures before importing them into Second Life. Residents can even build houses and other buildings. Residents make objects for different reasons - some do it to bolster the theme of a particular area or avatar design, others build objects just for fun. For example, a skilled user could create a puppy dog that follows him or her everywhere. They can also use the Linden Scripting Language, a programming language similar to Java, to give objects specific properties. By creating and linking together basic prim structures, users can create more complex objects. Users can also build objects within Second Life using simple in-world tools and menus. Savvy residents can customize their avatars by creating their own clothes and skins in a graphics program and importing the file into Second Life.Īvatar customization is just one way residents can tweak their Second Life experiences. Users can find dozens of residents who sell and trade clothing, skin and even body parts in Second Life. Some residents create special skin textures for avatars ranging from realistic skin and hair to fantasy-inspired scales or feathers. If he or she wanted a completely new hairstyle, the user would have to either design it or buy it from another resident. Even with this level of control, the user can only adjust what is already there. For example, if the user wants to modify the avatar's hairstyle, he or she might use the tool's slide bars to make the hairstyle longer or shorter. One of the menu choices is appearance, which allows a user to adjust the way his or her avatar looks. Nothing in Second Life is permanent - if a user decides his or her avatar should evolve from a hulking brute to a half-cat half-girl creature, he or she can make the changes at any time.Ī resident can also right click his or her mouse on the avatar, which pulls up a pie-shaped menu. They can change their avatars' appearance as often as they like. So, whether you're a former or current user or just curious about Second Life, we'll explain to you how it all works. But registration picked up in 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic keeping people at home. In 2018, it was reported to have 500,000 active monthly users (down from more than 1 million in 2013). Second Life was a huge hit in the mid-2000s, though interest has waned since then. They inhabit a virtual world free of pre-determined goals or tasks, just like the real world. Unlike MMORPGs, residents in Second Life aren't in a game, though there are games inside Second Life's virtual environment. Users navigate through an online world, encountering strange landscapes and new people. Like an MMORPG, users represent themselves with a customizable, 3D figure that acts like a computer-generated puppet. In many ways, Second Life is similar to massively multiplayer online role playing games ( MMORPGs). Some residents design short programs, called scripts, which give avatars or objects new abilities, including special animations or the ability to generate copies of other objects. They can also do things that are impossible in the real world - avatars can fly or teleport to almost any location. They can do a lot of things you can do in real life - buy land, shop for clothes and gadgets, or just visit with friends. In Second Life, residents can go to social gatherings, live concerts, press conferences and even college classes. User-generated content also explains why Second Life is for adults only - Linden Lab places few restrictions on residents, meaning that you can see some pretty raunchy creations while you're exploring the environment. Resident additions to the virtual world are called user-generated content, and this content is one of the factors that makes Second Life such a unique online environment. For one thing, they can contribute to the world around them, creating buildings, objects or even animations. Second Life isn't just a fancy chat room - residents can do much more than communicate with one another. I will admit, that is a real big difference, but I have had several guys tell me that the big gap was a big HP increase. I one instance, I got a 22 horsepower INCREASE by going to an 080 gap, from a 035 gap. The ONLY time I have ever seen plug gap make any difference is when you make it BIGGER. I have been dyno testing for over 40 years. going another step colder, (about the same as an ngk 8), now it only took 2 days and all of 30 or 40 miles for the engine to run rough.I do not know if the same is true for the 455 engines but here is some info about a test with different plug pags: Going to a plug one step colder (approximately an ngk 7) and then it would take about six or seven days for it to run rough vs about 1 month on the ngk 6. I found that with a carb and mostly easy driving (boosting for short periods) the 5 heat range was the one that would NEVER foul, and the 6 was border line too cold, as too much light cruising would cause partial plug fouling leading to engine roughness. Turbo over the years, and with other brands of plugs that would cross to colder heat ranges than I could get with an ngk ranges, just to see what would happen. For what it is worth, I've experimented with both ngk 5's and 6's on my A plug that is hot enough to never foul on a car that is never warmed up and never driven hard is also too hot for a car that is going to be driven hard all the time. The best possible heat range for a car that is intended to be driven hard is way too cold to be used on a grocery getter, as they will foul quick. You nailed it!! the factory plugs were developed knowing that most cars were not going to the track and not going to be driven hard. > charts were developed under controlled conditions. > oil consumption rate, cam, tuning, C/R, etc. > performance is like comparing oil performance. > What I should've said was, comparing spark plug > Asking people what spark plug works best is a I did some searching here but didn't find much, mainly testimonials regarding one experience with a particular engine. I was hoping to make up our own little comparison chart regarding heat ranges. Did they just get a bad rap because of the old extended tip, what were they UL15Y or something like that? My older brother asked me what ever happened to Champion, they used to have something for everyone? I just don't see Corvair folks recommending Champions. Larry Claypool seemed to like the Autolite 425 in everything. I've been looking around for something else since they are no longer in stock at O'Reillys or NAPA. I used Bosch W8AC and W8AC+ for several years in all Corvairs. What AC plug might the Autolite 2656 compare to?ĭoes the Champion L87YC compare to AC 44F?ĭoes the Champion L92YC commpare to AC 46F? Is the Autolite 275 a naughty extended tip? Local auto parts didn't have one. What AC plug would the Autolite 425 compare to? Would a NGK B6HS compare to a AC 44F and would a B5HS compare to a AC 46F? Would a Bosch 7502 or 7902 W8AC compare more to a AC 44F or 46F? The slightly hotter 46F is for the lower compression engines like 80 and 95. The 44F is for higher performance engines like 102, 110, 140 and 180. That changed to 44F and 46F with the loss of one thread. I would like to get opinions on the relative heat range of other brands comparing them to baseline AC. Most seem to have a vested interest in getting you to their brand. It seems like spark plug comparison charts I've found don't really agree. I have a medium term project to transfer all of these old negatives into the folders I've been using in recent years. I have a number of boxes about the house and loft and garage full of envelopes returned from film labs, over the past. not a very clear reason why, and he illustrates it by showing problems when its set to 4! There's also a description of batch scanning on his Nikon scanner, which might be useful hints when I want to try batch scanning on the V500. I did get one interesting suggestion from it: set the white point to zero (default is 1). He skips over profiling without mentioning its significance, so that's a mark against, too. I did find a video from a guy called Chis Crawford, but it's mostly the stuff I already know. I've not been able to find anything comparable. Has anyone seen any good guides to scanning slide film (specially using Vuescan)? I'm minded to ask prompted by the video in the posts above, showing a whole new workflow for scanning. I've recently found my IT.8 target after it had hidden itself away for a few years, so I'll definitely re-profile the scanner. I've had a lot of trouble scanning slide film, so I thought I should refresh my memory on some of the issues. So this film deserves a re-scan, or at least the better frames do. Imagine my shock when I held the strips up to the light and saw what appear to be lovely, natural colours! EDIT: Don't rely on Chris' memory, it was actually expired Ektachrome E200, and on closer examination the greenish scans came from experimenting with the fade setting in Vuescan! I had a look in my archive and yes, very faded and rather greenish would be my assessment. I remembered the roll, as it's the only roll of Provia 400X I've shot, and remembered it as a film much past its best. While labelling these easy ones, I found a sheet with a roll of Provia 400X, taken on the Llandudno meet (was that really 7 years ago?). Just yesterday I was going through a box from 2013 there were a dozen or so where the negatives were already in sheets that could be filed (the rest will have to be re-sleeved). We already support Windows computers with ARM chips, and it will be easy to add support for these potential new MacBooks using ARM chips. We expect a similar surge in business when (if?) Apple release MacBooks using ARM chips. Many of these were only supported on Windows, and they can be used with VueScan on macOS and Linux. Fujitsu sells $1B of document scanners per year, and their older document scanners still work very well. We’re especially seeing a lot of new users who use Fujitsu document scanners. The main types of scanners that don’t work with vendor-provided software are from Fujitsu, Canon, Brother, HP and Epson. We’ve also notarized all newer versions of VueScan. We’ve had the 圆4 version of VueScan since 2010, and it works well on Catalina. In addition, Catalina only runs apps that have been ‘Notarized’ by Apple. The reason for this is that a lot of vendor-provided scanner software was 32-bit, and Catalina only supports 64-bit Mac apps. We’ve seen a lot of new customers for VueScan since Apple released macOS 10.15 (Catalina). You can use this scanner on Mac OS X and Linux without installing any other software." "You need to install the Plustek driver to use this scanner on Windows x86. The page for my scanner (Plustek 7500i) on the Vuescan site now says: Overall, VueScan supports around 2,400 scanner models on Windows, 2,100 models on Mac, and 1,900 models on Linux." Manufacturers include Ricoh, Canon, Fujitsu, Kodak, Nikon, Panasonic, Polaroid, Samsung, Mitsubishi, and Epson, among others a full list of supported models can be found here. The third-party software is made possible by reverse-engineering drivers for more than 6,000 older scanners from 42 manufacturers, including film scanner and flatbed models. With it, Mac users can use their older 32-bit scanner with their Apple desktop or laptop even if they're running macOS Catalina. "VueScan was upgraded this week to version 9.7. DPReview has a post today that says Vuescan has been updated to 9.7, to include reverse-engineered drivers for many scanners with 32-bit drivers: We spent around 10 seconds setting each plug-in. We only used common noise reduction controls that each of the plug-featured such as threshold and amount/reduction controls. Where possible we used the “Learn” or “Listen” modes in each plug-in to capture the noise profile. There was no way to be able to set each plug-in to a fair “50% value” of reduction so we used our ears and judgement in setting each plug-in to sound as close a possible in terms of reduction. Obviously, each of the plug-ins we used in this test is different in design. The aim was to reduce the sound of the hiss and avoid possible artefactsĪggressive noise reduction: The second example for each was set to a far greater value of reduction in the aim of eliminating the hiss completely regardless of artefacts. Gentle noise reduction: Each plug-in was set to around 50% reduction (which was roughly the default setting for each plug-in). We feel this audio clip represents a fairly typical example of a poorly recorded dialog track that employed rather desperate measures in getting a half decent recording level, including a plosive, which also can come from poorly recorded voice over tracks. Each plug-in featured in this test used the same poorly recorded source audio clip, which was recorded using a dynamic microphone positioned at a distance of 3 inches from the voice with the mic preamp gain set to maximum to compensate for the low output from the mic. In this blind listening test we feature what we consider to be 4 commonly used real-time noise reduction plug-ins available today. We have featured a number of noise reduction plug-ins over the years in articles and videos for The Production Expert Community. Post production engineers demand great sounding noise reduction plug-ins which also work fast, but which noise reductions plug-ins are best? Our Test Of The Best Noise Reduction Plug-ins You Can Buy Today Budget are tighter than ever these days with work having to be turned around quickly. The high quality of noise reduction these days is not the only thing we should be celebrating, noise reduction plug-ins have also become simpler and faster to use.Īudio post production professionals rely heavily on noise reduction plug-ins. Many of the most popular plug-ins within this category have been developed to such high standards they provide us clean & transparent, for want of a better word, “unartificial” results. You can also purchase it for a one-time fee, but I personally decided to subscribe.Over the last decade realtime noise reduction plug-ins have year on year become more and more powerful. The option to use it under the Accusonus subscription model is one of the advantages! Out of all the “post-production” noise suppressors (the ones that DON’T work in realtime) though, the Noise Remover is the one that does the best job. However, it works GREAT on noisy guitar tracks. It’s clear to me that the ERA 5 Bundle was designed mostly for audio post production and not for music production. In other words, I think it’s revolutionary for ENG style voice recording. I haven’t tried it personally, but it sounds like what humbuckers do to electric guitars. The difference is that this version can “subtract” noise from your recording if it was recorded using two different microphones (i.e shotgun + lavalier). If you purchase the PRO bundle, you’ll even have access to Noise Remover PRO. However, it’s the Noise Remover that we’re interested in right now… That being said, the ERA 5 Bundle’s “one-knob” design is fantastic! It’s one thing when you’ve GOT time, but you’ll definitely need to increase your performance when you’re on the clock. I trust C-Vox 100% indoors, but I wouldn’t 100% rely on NoiseAssist outdoors.ģ. That’s because you can’t “undo” the noise suppression. However, there’s always more risk when you record things in realtime. If I ever get the chance, I’ll try to make some benchmarks with these two!Īnyway, another advantage of NoiseAssist is that it also works in REALTIME. I honestly haven’t tried it indoors, but I believe it would perform much better.Ĭome to think of it, I haven’t used C-Vox outdoors… That being said, I still believe that NoiseAssist is beneficial for field recording. I still used the next plugin we’ll be talking about to make touch-ups. However, I can’t say that this one is completely flawless… NoiseAssist is also the first noise suppressor to make me rethink noise suppression. It’s kind of pricey, but it just might be worth it out there in the field. If you were to purchase any of the compatible Sound Devices units, just keep in mind that you would need to purchase NoiseAssist separately.
